I have a used 87 9000S I bought with 145,890 miles on it on  12/31/97.
It now has 225,900 miles. The A/C on mine did the same thing May of 98.
The clutch went bad. You got that reaction because the A/C is belt
driven. Your turbo is not. You will just experience a power loss. My
first Saab was an 83 900T.
