The same thing happened to my father's '96 9000 CDE.  If the light stays 
on,
it is indicating a fault in the TCS system.. and your cruise control 
probably won't work
either.  

Luckily the 9000 was under warranty at the time, so it didn't cost him 
anything to fix.  The
dealer replaced a computer module for nearly $1000 CDN.
