Subject: 9K - new owner impressions

After a disasterous 88 9000S experience (clutch failure, A/C failure, engine problems) I was hesitant about getting another one but it's just the right mix of practicality, luxury, safety, fuel economy, room & price so I decided to get a 93 CSE. Some impressions: It's a great highway cruiser. Comfy ride, nice sound system, pretty quiet. It's my first turbo and certainly the most powerful car I've ever owned. It's nice to have that power in reserve to get out of tight situations and when passing. It's a kick to step on the gas and go. On the down side it's just not a good city car. It feels ponderous and not very tight in quick maneuvers. The clutch & shifter are mush. The clutch grabs at the very top and the shifter feels like stirring Jello (gelatin). (On the other hand I am comparing it to my last car: an Acura Integra with it's world class manual tranny - very neat & crisp.) I don't like the way it sounds. It has sort of a booming quality to it. But overall I'll give it a 7 out of 10. I've already had my first crisis. The CD player refuses to spit out my CD and won't turn off (yes, I pressed the reset button). I was delighted to find it played (most but not all of) my CDRs. It was a CDR that got stuck. Could that be the problem? More later.
