Subject: Re: New 9-3 model??

Well, the new 9-3 is going to be based on the same platform as the Cadillac CTS, which is supposed to be the stiffest platform every made by GM, and it's already getting some pretty high marks from the car mags that already test drove it (the CTS). My hope is that they bring back a hatchback for the 9-3, but, most likely it will be a so-called segment buster car, like the Pontiac Vibe, which supposedly defies classification. Maybe it's me, but when I look at a car like the PT Cruiser I think, "Ok, it's a wagon or hatchback" Easy to classify in my mind. I love the looks of the current Viggen, but, the fact is, the platform is simply ready for a refreshening. Since this current version of the 9-3 platform came out there have been great advances in automobile manufacturing, not the least of which is hydroformed platforms that are stronger, stiffer and lighter than before. JJ >Every shot I've seen (both spy and bogus art) of the new 93 reminds me >of a Chevy Malibu, and that was before I even knew that they were going >to share the same platform. > >Being reminded of a Chevy Malibu is not a good thing. I'm trying to >have the part of my brain that remembers the Malibu surgically removed.
