Subject: Re: New 9-3 model??

Just looked under a CTS recently. Front engine, Rear drive. Aluminum everywhere on the suspension. Double wishbone front suspension. I do not remember if it had independent rear, but the diff housing was definitely AL. The side view reminds me of a 9kCS, especially at the back with the short deck. The problem with this is that it is not a hatch, but a 3 box sedan! The trunk opening is more 'mail slot' than anything else. Totally unworkable for me. Cannot get anything IN the trunk. Maybe a bunch of small pieces, but definitely not any large objects. With all the other manufacturers releasing hatches in the US, Saab (GM) will definitely 'me too' and have them. On another list, it was mentioned that the terms wagon and hatch have negative connotations and it is possible to have a hatch which is labeled a wagon. When the marketing geeks get a hold of things, watch out! The other question is how are they going to reconfigure this to have a fwd package? The double wishbone at the front will surely go. I'll have to wait and see.
