Head gasket failure, when not due to overheating, is usually due to "time" rather than "wear". When properly installed with no defects, a head gasket will usually last the life of the engine ie., it does not "wear" at all and mileage is unrelated. So it is quite possible that a car as old as a '95 would have a gasket that has gone bad over the years due to deterioration. Also, this series of 900's does seem to have a few more head gasket failures than normal. I know that the factory changed the torque specs sometime in '97 or '98 (less torque so that the gasket would be compressed less when initially installed). This tells me that the factory was receiving lots of reports of failures too. Bob
