Subject: Power down after headgasket change

Greetings to the group. Question: Recently changed headgasket, timing chain, chain tensioner, chain guides and lower drive sprocket on 1987 9000T. Engine has 240,000 kilometers on it and was healthy before the headgasket blew. It is all reassembled and runs well again, boost is normal, but power sometimes "pulses" and overall, car seems to lack it's overall snap. I was reading the saab factory manual and it says that when the timing chain is replaced the fuel injection system needs to be recalibrated. For the life of me I cannot imagine why.... Car sat for over a year before I finally fixed it. Any ideas on what could be causing the loss of ooomph? Everything else seems normal, oil press is about 55 PSI at 3000 rpm, temp is normal, fuel economy is also a bit down from what it used to get. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
