We have had a little discussion on the newsgroup regarding how to reduce the idle speed on a 2L Turbo ('98 to be specific). It has been suggested that reprogramming the computer would be an option. The dealers say it cannot be changed (runs at 1000 RPM - automatic trans) and the computer keeps it at 1000 not matter what. (How would you go about getting the existing program if required and then altering or reburning the chip?) Cold starts in winter = 1000 RPM After warm up = 1000 RPM Summer start up = 1000 RPM I have nothing against 1000 RPM except while stopped at intersections it is always a challenge to keep the car from wanting to go - a heavy foot on the brake is necessary and it seems to me that it must be hard on the transmission. Any suggestions, greatly appreciated... Brian
