Subject: update on bad alternator



Hello everyone,
Thanks for your help diagnosing the alternator.
The car still isn't fixed. I don't have any data to report right now
since I didn't know my new voltmeter required a 12V battery until
*after* I got it home.
Anyway, my boyfriend went out to the car to pick up his phone and saw
the security light on. He thought what the hell and turned the ignition
AND THE CAR STARTED. 
I cannot explain this. He reported that the d*** alternator light was
still on. I think this qualifies as a gremlin. Will report again after
taking readings on appropriate electrical systems.
