Before I start this email, please keep in mind that this is all my OPINION. I have absolutely no interest in starting a flame war. :-) I will depart from what I feel will be the general consensus and recommend that you buy the Arc instead of the Aero. I have a 2001 9-5SE (the predecessor of the Arc) and absolutely love everything about it. The afterheater is especially nice in the cold months as it will keep your car warm for about an hour after the engine has been shut off (this was not available in the 2001 Aero but maybe the 2002 has one? I am unsure). Of course, it all depends on what you want though. I feel that the Arc is designed to be geared more towards a conservative driver. The Aero is more situated for someone who likes a sports car handling and acceleration. It would be my guess that considering you live in New Jersey and drive under 10k a year, you live in an area with a pretty good amount of traffic? If so, you probably wouldn't get much of a chance to experience the extra Horsepower/Handling of the Aero; its main selling points from what I've read. The Arc isn't quite as sporty with it's wood trim (again, I am unsure if wood trim is available in an Aero) or tighter suspension but it has been my opinion that the Arc handles potholes and bumps with a bit less discomfort. The Arc still accelerates quite nicely and does very well at high speeds. It is the road grip/turning at higher speeds where the Arc falters though. If I needed excellent handling at 60+ MPH, I would have gotten an Aero, or for that matter, a BMW (and before everyone hits the reply button to start flaming me, I request that your revert to the top of this message). I am by no means technical with cars; I cannot rattle off Torque and Horsepower statistics. I am only speaking of my personal experiences with vehicles and why I decided to choose the car I did. I also feel that you will be happy with either vehicle.
