Hi there! I've got an '87 9000i and on my vehicle, there was an increasing whining as the motor went over the 200tkm. The whining came up at startup until the motor was at working-temperature. When i took my saab to the garage the diagnosis was clear: The wheel on the (i don't known the right word for it?!?) spindle coming from the motor and driving the powergenerator-belt (you know what i mean?) hasn't had the rubber insight anymore which was responsible for the right connection to the motor. So exchanging this wheel by the cost of 750,- DM / 300$ / 350? healed the car from whining ;-)) Hope i'd helped you in anyway...
