Blimey John - I thought this item that I posted some time ago was a non-starter - thanks for the response. Yes...it does seem odd that they would point to the gearbox - am out of warranty now and cringe every time I get the growl - shudder to think what a replacement gearbox would be. There is a local independent SAAB specialist that I have found who seems to think that there is nothing wrong with the belts/chain or gearbox. He tells me that the growl could well come from the air intake assembly - hmmm.... I need more convincing. Am actually thinking of moving on and trading in against a lower mileage SAAB 9-5 Griffin (3.0 V6) - there are some good deals around at the moment with the introduction of the new gorgeous 9-5 Aero (250bhp) - (outta my price league). Hope you problem is resolved asap for you mate and thanks once again for your reply. Best wishes, Mick "John Galbraith" <briarnopsamr.free-online.co.uk> wrote in message news:Z1Cz8.71746$51.579709nopsams... > very interesting.
