Subject: 900 Electrical problem

I've got a '96 900 S, and went out the other day to find it had a dead battery. Turns out there's a short in the circuits for fuse #34. My mechanic says I'll have to take it back to Saab to sort it out. Has anybody else had this problem? and figured out a fix for it? Apparently, the #34 fuse is responsible for the automatic transmission controller, the instrument panel, and the dashboard mileage computer. I'm just wondering if I can save myself a trip to the dealer. It's always such a pain in the ass. Thanks, Seacidal
