In terms of reliability, I've been been pleased by my 98 900SE. Things seem to have only gotten better with the 9-3. n article <7fe7dbf.0204290637.2d843a2bnopsaming.google.com>, bergizzynopsamail.com (Izzy Berg) wrote: > 1. Reliability: I have read mixed things. As far as service goes, I've been pleasantly surprised in the NYC area. Of course, if you're willing to go to the dealers a bit further from the city you're certainly going to get a slightly better deal. Given that dealers are not making much money (if any at all) on new car sales, most of them are looking to their service departments to generate some cash. In terms of the Saab dealers I've been to, they seem to be going for the service approach, making it as pleasant as possible so you're more likely to bring your car back. Prices have been pretty reasonable, and I've been getting coupons from Saab dealers in the mail, so that's an added bonus. In general, with BMW dealers charging $98 for an oil change (as per the long-term X5 test in Car and Driver) and major routine service for a Ford Focus costing over $300 (a recent Autombile Mag issue, I believe), there really aren't any hot deals going with dealer service. If you're looking to save money, try an independent. > 2. Service: Tends to be very expensive. Especially in a big city > (Chicago?) > > 3.
