My 1994 CSE had almost 150,000 miles on it when I gave it to my son. It
now has about 175,000. The only things besides the expected break pads,
rotors, shock absorbers, and exhaust system that were replaced over the
years were the alternater and the heater core and they were under an
extended warranty. Granted, it was well maintained with regular oil
changes and transmission fluid changes.
I am told that the automatic transmission is the weakest link in the power
train if the car was driven hard but our 94 is still going strong.
Overall it was the least expensive car I have owned on a per mile basis.
I now have a 1998 CSE with a 5 mpeed transmission and I hope to see it
turn over 200,000m miles.
My grandson inherited my 1985 900 turbo. Its odometer reads about
220,000. The engine and turbo has never been touched but every moving
part in the suspension has been replaced.
If taken care of Saabs can be heirlooms.
Good Luck,
