Subject: Re: Interior Dash Lights

Keith, to my best recollection (from about 2 years ago): 1. Remove dash-top - several screws including one in glove compartment. You have to unclip a fat wire A-pillar tie from the underside before it comes completely clear. And remember to unclip the alarm diode. 2. Reach down inside and remove all the plugs from the back of the instrument pod (5 of them if I remember rightly!). This is the trickiest bit. Small strong hands required - or well trained ferret. 3. Remove bezel from front of instrument pod (?) 4. Unscrew pod (two tabs at top) 5. Carefully lift pod through opened top aperture. Once out, you will see the quarter-turn bulb holders on the back of the unit. The replacements come complete with holders - you cannot remove the lamps from the holders as they are spot-welded in place (Get replacements from any good auto parts supplier. They are not uniquely Saab). Replace all of them whether they have blown or not as (a) may save you having to do the job again in the near future, and (b) brightness falls off with age. I did mine after losing more than half of them over several years. It was like driving a new car (except for the engine, gearbox, washers, headlamps, radio antenna, ignition system, rear bushes, brakes and alarm system!)
