The poster who told you to find the leak was working on the assumption that you hadnt just had work done on the system, which would explain the level dropping. You probably do not have a leak (but see below) it is just the level settling. > I guess that really it's up to them then. The cost of fuel to get there will be ofset by the fact that you will not have to buy any coolant. The merc coolant is said to be better for the head gasket, as it contains an additive that prevents formation of crystaline deposits. The reason this is good for a Saab is that the aluminium head expands at a different rate to the cast block, and hence you get minute sliding movement at the head gasket joint. If you have crystaline deposits in the joint, they act a grinding paste, and eventually wear away the gasket.
