I've heard of a friends' turbo (not on a > Saab but still a turbo) who exploded and damaged the engine. > Mathias Pure rubbish! My wife has a 2000 9-3 hatch, I had a '96 900 Conv. and now a 2000 9-3 Conv. We have never let the car idle before switching off and have never had any problems what so ever with the engines. Joe, I really haven't had any issues with the 9-3. The 900 top had electric servos and they failed once, but the 9-3 is pneumatic and has been faultless. I live in the Pacific Northwest and the car is truly a four season car. I parked my 900 in the open and after 4 years of sun, rain, snow and ice the seals and top were perfect. The only time, apart from the regular service, that I had to take the 9-3 in was emission of smoke at start up. They updated the engine management software and all has been well. I have seen reports of people on this newsgroup who have had some electrical items go wrong, the only electrical item I had to change was the seat warmer switch on the 900. (All repair works under warranty of course.) After six years I really have nothing to complain about the cars. Enjoy the ride.
