Subject: Still another cruise control question

Has any one had a cruise control unit go intermittent. I have a 92 900s convert, na, 69000mi. Poor thing was neglect abused for some time before I bought it. For about the last month or so the cruise control will not engage, or drop out w/o warning. The cruise control light stays on. Went through the troubleshooting procedure of checking the brake and clutch switches and hoses, all good. There does not appear to be any vacuum leaks, all hoses look real good, actuator pushes air with authority. I have noted, after buttoning up the dash of course, that there are many ground problems with these cars. Has anyone out there seen this type of problem? Before pulling dash apart, again, and checking everything out, again, I would like to know just how often the cruise control unit, or the vacuum unit goes bad. tia dave the new guy
