I am seeing a trend in the responses and I would summarize it like this: Some cars have special maintenance requirements, particularly if they are high performance. When you buy a car you either need to become an expert on the maintenance of the car, or you should find someone who can give you the expert advice you need. In my friends case, he thought the dealership would give him the expert advice that he needed. My friend just bought the car because he wanted to drive it. I guess it is like buying a computer, you need to educate yourself on the inner workings. If the computer does not perform as you expect, it is because you are not smart enough to use it (I'm being sarcastic, don't flame me for this). I am wondering why the "check engine" light didn't come on at the 65K service interval if it was so critical. In my friends case, he thought the dealership would give him all the expert advice.
