The 9-5 adaptor cable links your phone to the built-in microphone and saab audio unit giving you hands-free conversation. The mic has an output level setting which needed adjustment. You need to supply an aerial - I use a tax disk aerial. I originally has an aerial fitted to the rear window but it caused interference on the radio. (as Saab's manual warns). I learned all this from a professional installer. I also bought the Saab phone bracket to mount the phone on - it blends in well with the interior.
