The removal tool looks like a pair of miniature croquet hoops, attached by a chain. It might be in a pocket of your owners' manual pouch or maybe in the trunk integral tool kit. The radio has two vertical sets of holes into which these wickets go. Push in until it clicks, press gently apart while pulling out, out pops the unit, ready for service or securing in a bad neighborhood. If it's that old, the radio noise could mean you might have a corroded antenna or ground wire, or shorted speaker crossovers... (that would also show up playing a tape) or gunk built up on the pots for volume, etc. You might try a dollar bottle of tuner cleaner from radio schmuck on the dial, with some vigorous twiddling of the knob, to clear the gunk...
