Is that because many of the manufacturers have discontinued the hatchbacks and the 4 door models are all that remain available? That is certainly the case in the US. For the 2003 model year, the only hatchback available in the US that isn't total junk is the Volkswagen Golf. I might have to consider a Hundai Elantra GT. I hear that they are moving to be a step better than junk.
