Instead of servo motors (early models) or stepper motors (later models) it used simple rods to control the air distribution flaps. Even though we have loads of Saab 9000 here in Sweden I have never seen such a car in real life! Removing the glove compartment will probably give enough access to the mechanical details between the cabin controls and the ventilation system to understand what is going on. -- G–ran Larsson http://www.nospam.com
