You did not say what you raced, but many racers like rear wheel drive cars because they have the skills to drive them safely on the road and take advantage of the ability to steer with the throttle by controlling the slide in the rear wheels. Saabs are front wheel drive. I consider my self an average driver and like the way the older Saabs handle. You probably also work on your own cars - in which case you may want to skip the 9-3 and get an 1993 or older Saab because these are easier to maintain. Many of the newer cars use the "replace the computer board" approach to repairs, which can be expensive, but necessary as many systems like brakes, traction control, digital displays, fuel/air mixture, timing, lights, security/alarms etc. are controlled by the computer system.
