I've been very pleased with Dunlop SP5000s (ultra-high performance
all-season) as an all-year tire here in southeast Michigan. It is
definitely a good road tire, although a bit noisy. The only car I put 4
snows on was a Volvo 850 Turbo with about 240 hp - even with traction
control (not all-speed!) it was hard to drive well. Our 9-5 with a four, a
Passat VR6, and a 325i are all very satisfactory with the Dunlops. This
year I got Michelin Pilot XGT HVs for the 325, so we'll see how that works
out.
