Subject: '92 900 classic coolant mystery

I just bought this car, and after maybe 100 miles it seems excellent so far, but I faintly smell coolant in the cockpit. If I turn on the heat to see if the heater core is leaky, guess what? The smell goes away! Under the hood I get the faintest whiff of coolant as well, but no sign of a leak. All the hoses are new, and I don't lose a drop. I have not done a pressure test yet. I am pretty sure it is coolant I am smelling. I have worked alot with polymers and paint solvents, so I can tell one organic vapor from another. I think it is not my imagination that when the heat is on and the temperature dial is turned away from cold (six o'clock) I no longer smell the smell in the cockpit. Any ideas? Robobass
