Yup. Everything Four Weis says, plus one little thing that I fiddled with to cure a similar problem on my 1983 900 - check the square rubber seals between the wiper shafts and the bodywork (that part of the bodywork between the windshield lower edge and the bonnet/hood). If there's a gap then water will run down the engine side of the firewall. That in itself should not be a problem but if you have a leak at or above the firewall at the same time, you could get leakage into the footwell. It should be enough to ensure that the square seals cover properly. Hopefully now sealing compound needed. Check also to see that the join between the intake box and the rubber drain pipe is not leaking. Good luck before the storm!
