Elementary. The engine needs two things: fuel and ignition. The fuel is
handled by a carb or a fuel injection system. Fuel injection in your case.
The ignition is an handled by an electrical system that provides the spark.
A distributor is part of the ignition system that distributes the voltage
to the spark plugs. But wait a minute, your car doesn't have a traditional
distributor as such; it has a Direct Ignition cassette (DI) on top of the
engine that feeds the spark plugs directly.
