Your mechanic took a shortcut for no good reason. What worries me is the symptom you've described where engine revs increase with no corresponding increase in road speed. This can only be cause by a slipping clutch. I think you need to take care of that as a priority. Limiting the engine's output in order to reduce clutch slip only delays the inevitable. -- Grunff
