See: A turbodiesel-engine with its extreme pressures is something like a hot racing-engine for all-day-use. The producers let the customers carry the risk of failure, wich is nearly not calculable. It does not only happen at SAABs. A collegue of me owns an AUDI A6 TDI and had a broken one of the bars which open the valves at only 25000 mls. You cannot press 140 hp out of a Diesel without risk of loss. Good luck Wolfgang
