Thanks, Grunff - your clear instructions much appreciated! I've always done the 'usual' comp test = dry, but never wet. This will be a new experience...... Don't have a pressure gauge, so hopefully the comp test will tell me enough. If all cylinders are within 10% of the specified compression pressure (Townsend site is down as I write, so I haven't yet got the numbers to quote) I'll be very happy! The pulsing emission also comes from the large dia. outlet on the valve cover as well as the oil filler pipe, so I'm hoping but not really expecting that cleaning the screen will cure it - though if its partially blocked, it might be that it 'breathes' only under higher pressure... Thanks for the advice and best wishes! I'll keep y'all posted as to further developments (waiting on a sunny day in the snow!)
