Assuming the 9-3 controls are the same fitting as my NG900, the knobs should push on and pull off. The plastic collar broke on my air distribution control, but the knob basically fell off rather than spinning freely. So I suspect that your problem lies somewhere within the linkage behind the dashboard and probably will require a visit to the dealer. But see what some of the more experienced posters here think before taking my advice! ;-) Tim (UK '96 900S 2.3i)
