Absolutely fix it! I am nearly done doing exactly that with my 1991 9000 Turbo with 130,000 miles on it. I am doing the labor myself. The cost of the rebuilt transmission (including shipping), clutch kit (clutch disk, pressure plate, clutch cover and throwout bearing), new slave cylinder, inner and outer CV boots and various suspension parts that I broke during disassembly or decided to replace has cost me US$2000. Get the rebuilt transmission. The best source for them provides a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty. I got mine from www.saabsite.com. They had the best price that I could find ($1395 plus shipping). www.eeuroparts.com had the best price and selection for everything else. You can find very good instructions on how to replace the transmission at www.quasimotors.com. Look at the section that talks about clutch replacement. The transmission has to come out if you replace the clutch or slave cylinder too, so you might as well do them at the same time. It will save you having to do all the labor again in a few thousand miles. One tip: The starter motor has to be unbolted to remove the transmission. The Quasimotors instructions spend nearly a page telling how difficult that part is. I suggest that you remove the throttle body to gain easy access to the starter motor bolts. It is easy enough to remove the three nuts and a couple of hoses for the throttle body, and that gives you plenty of room to get the starter motor bolts off with a box wrench instead using all sorts of ratchet extensions and levering them against fragile engine parts that will probably break. Good luck. Since the job is fresh in my mind, feel free to ask any questions. BTW, doing the labor myself probably saved me anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 and gave me an excuse to buy a few more tools!
