I haven't watched the Altima models very closely so I can't say if they actually exist in manual form. However, the Altima is targeted to the "family man" who wants a little more sport. I think you'll find that they made a few compromises on things like the seating position, interior quality, etc and you may be unsatisfied. There's plenty of engine there though. YMMV. See my Maxima comments below. >> Is the Maxima V6/manual transmissions readily available for a test drive >> or just "listed as being available" with a manual, just like the Volvo? They definitely make them. Manual Maximas have always been harder to find so I expect that you'll see a few, but not a boatload. Maximas are very nice cars at a reasonable price. Quality built, nice interior appointments. They have plenty of power from an engine with a reputation almost as good as a Saab 4cyl for durability. They handle well and are not too soft but yet still have a comfortable ride as long as you get the *SE* version. The GXE/GLE are too soft for my needs. Bob
