Subject: Re: What fuel for a classic 900 in UK

Depends on the model Year: pre late-1984, use leaded fuel or Lead-Replacement Petrol (LRP). If you have to, you can get away with unleaded for a while, but expect some valve seat wear eventually. Late 1984 and later cars (both the NA and the Turbo) must ONLY be run on unleaded fuel. btw, the turbo is, if anything, even more accommodating than the NA, because the automatic pressure (boost) control (APC) is able to detect the onset of knock. Standard recommended fuel for a Turbo is anyhting above 91 RON. I run my T16S or standard unleaded, 97 RON. The difference with the Turbo is that using a higher grade fuel actually does make a noticeable difference to the performance, because with higher RON fuel, the APC allows higher boost pressures. Shell Optimax works well in my car, but most of the time I don't bother. The car certainly doesn't need it, but it does run very well with it. Hope this helps - have fune -they're great cars!
