Was your dealer Gibson Motors in Perrysville, Indiana? I heard they were very good; it would be disappointing if they closed. They were one of the sights to visit at a car convention I attended a few years ago because they were the smallest new car dealership in Indiana. There is also a Saab dealer in Peoria, IL, but that is probably as far away from you as Indianapolis. I can tell you what I would do -- and have done. I bought my 9000 in 1997 and it has never been to the dealer for repair. I have only taken it to a shop for a wheel alignment because I have handled everything else myself. Right now I am finishing up putting in a replacement transmission. Normally I would have had someone do it (because I have never done a transmission before), but the dealers wanted about $5000 for the job, and the independent shops didn't want to work on it. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. There are plenty of websites with "howto" information and the people in this newsgroup can direct you to them when you need help. There are also plenty of stores on the internet that sell Saab parts. I even ordered the transmission from an e-merchant and they sent it by UPS.
