Thanks Bad head gaskets signs/symptoms can include: oil in the coolant (a visible water and oil not mixing and/or contamination), coolant in the oil (frothy or whitish 'mayonnaise' on the dipstick), exhaust w/excessive white smoke, overheating, etc If you don't have any of the above, I'd look at other possibilities/leaks besides the HG A compression and/or a leak-down test will confirm or dismiss the HG. If it is the HG, it may just take gasket replacement (including the usual incidentals), HG replacement plus head resurfacing, and/or block damage that would need repair cost assessment Replacing the HG is fairly involved, but can be done with the right tools, a service manual (Haynes or Bentley), and some patience. http://216.78.172.244/cooling_system_folder/cooling_system_docs.htm http://groups.google.com/groups?q=fan+circuit+modification+group:alt.autos.saab&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8&selm=34D55E45.E83BF847%40bellsouth.net&rnum=1 http://www.twinsaabs.com/ LM
