Doesn't everything have to happen on Xmas Eve! I have to drive the family to my parents tomorrow. Car is 1985 900i turbo saloon, 8 valve. Problem is the engine started to cut out tonight. Idle speed has fallen from 1,000 to about 500. Engine just stops at low revs, but restarts again. Goes moderately well, but some loss of power, esp. the turbo. It's been raining, but don't know how that's relevant, since no rain tonight. I don't know where to start. I have a manual and decent tools, but I've never serviced the car. I could perform some simple to moderate tasks, and I have a multimeter etc. Any ideas - I'd appreciate this chaps - Xmas is looking problematic right now! Andy Evans.
