The way to test the CVs is to take the car to a car park, and drive round and round in a clockwise circle (wheel at full lock). Then repeat going anti-clockwise. If you have any play in one of your CV joints, you'll get rhythmic clicking/thumping/banging. If you don't, then it may well be the inner drivers. Either way, I'd always remove both shafts complete, clean them up and examine them carefully on the bench. When you put them back in, use 4 new boots. Good luck, and keep us posted. -- Grunff
