One way is to use lots of materials to make a huge, heavy iron cast engine like the V8 you referred to (which is considered to be the neanderthal way by true engineers). The other way is to develop and manufacture an engine with great care, use the best suited materials for the parts, and so on. Take your pick.... -- Zweef
