Subject: Re: Heater valve

steve, please disregard the other posts if this scenario is true: At speed on the road, you get fine heat. When you stop and idle, the heat goes away. If so, you have a bad anti back flow valve. It was a bad joke that Saab afflicted the late model C900's with. The best and simplest solution is to replace the heater hoses with the older spec hoses which do not call for the plastic valve which connects the heater hoses. It is directly above the alternator. A cheap solution is to use a 3/4" copper 90 degree elbow and a 3/4" copper butt connector and remove the valve completely. I have had 2 1992 models and both had this problem. Both were outfitted with the older hoses. Try Saabsite.com or a local dealer ($$$) for the hoses. You may want to do a cooling system service (small elbow hose on the head near the distributor should be replaced as well, flush the system and replace the coolant with Mercedes Benz coolant, replace the fan switch with an 82 or 88 degree unit, replace the thermostat with an 82 degree unit and make sure that both fans run when the fan cycles - if not, there is a refit required as well to prolong the head gasket). http://216.78.172.244/cooling_system_folder/coolingsys.htm KeithG Steve Murad wrote: > My 92 900S seems to need the heater valve replaced.
