Or put one drop of light machine oil (eg, as for sewing machines) on the tip of your key, when the lock is dry and opening freely, then insert/remove the key several times, turning it now and then in the lock to distribute the oil. NB1: A single drop goes a long way. NB2: Watch for oily keys (in pockets &c) afterwards.
