Good (honest) tyre shops are sometimes hard to come by, so go armed with some facts if you can. Take a look for yourself by jacking the front end up and spinning the front wheels by hand. When you look at the wheel from the side and compare the distance between the tyre and the wheel arch when rotating, if it rises and falls slightly the tyres are mis-shapen. Again, look at it from the front and rotate the wheel to see if there is any sideways movement. Bent rims (even slight) can be found by putting your finger on the inside of the rim and rotating the wheel - you should feel any mis-shape, however small. You can also run your hand back and forth over the rear tyres. If you feel some resistance when running your hand back over the tyre, the alignment is (or has been) out. This is called feathering and occurs when the rear tyres are being dragged by a mis-aligned front end. Since you're in the UK, I can recommend ATS Euromaster. I've taken all my cars to them for alignment & balancing and had new tyres for two Saabs from them and new shocks for my '85 900i. I've been very pleased with their workmanship and customer service. I've never heard good reports about Kwik Fit or Charlie Browns and I have first-hand bad experience of Alba Tyres (they put all the balancing weights on the inside and outside of the wheels the wrong way round), to name a few national chains. Once alignment and balancing has been done and the tyres proven to be in shape, check over the turbo piping. Search back through a.a.saab for "FIXED: Violent Vibration at 50-60 MPH" and make sure all is okay there before looking at expensive jobs like driveshaft replacement.
