My parking brakes haven't been working for months. First, the left caliper would freeze up and I'd have to nudge it loose. So I stopped using them. After my then-fiancÈe put the brake on one day after driving, I learned that the right caliper freezes up, too. I've not had time or money to fix them, so I just put it into gear as I never park on much more than a slight incline. Well, tonight I had to run a move back to the video store. When I parked, I looked at the shifter and wondered if I had left it in gear then quickly dismissed the thought as I was sure that I had. I dropped the movie in and walked right back out. I thought, "I don't remember parking that far from the building." With horror, I realized I hadn't! The car was rolling backwards. Since there were a couple of people in the parking lot, I didn't want to draw attention to myself by panicking. Judging by the car's slow movement, I knew I had time so I strolled over, got in, shut the door, and depressed the brake. No harm done but had I been in the store 15 seconds longer, there would have been. -- Chrisitan '85 900 8V 60K
