Subject: '93 9000 CSE CD player problem

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the following problem: I have a 1993 9000 CSE with what I believe is the "stock" CD player/equalizer combo in it (Alpine or Clarion perhaps?). I also installed a Clarion 6-CD changer in the trunk using the car's built-in wiring for it (thank you, Saab!) My problem is as follows: in the winter, on trips of about an hour or more, the center dashboard console seems to get pretty hot, and the in-dash CD player will begin to make a slight, rhythmic crackle sound, which seems to be at the same frequency as the rotation of the CD. If I ignore it and continue to drive, the crackling slowly gets worse and worse, until it's so bad it becomes a cacophony of scratching sounds. The only thing I can compare it to is: picture taking some very coarse sandpaper, scratching the hell out of an old 78 RPM record, then trying to play it. I mentioned the heat only because I suspect it's heat related, since the only remedy seems to be for me to stop driving the car and let the entire car get cold again. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
