Get a little on your fingertips - is it really slippery? Probably oil. If it's staying for more than a few hours, probably oil. Smell it - then smell the dipstick to compare it. Now wipe off your nose where it touched the dipstick and look around to make sure nobody was watching. One trick if the ground has too many spots on it is to use a clean white piece of cardboard, so you know you're looking only at the new drips. Dave Hinz
