I see this too... I think it's mostly a convertible thing. 
Perhaps it's that they don't know what it is, so they have
to look closer. Trouble is, they seem to attract older chicks 
rather than young chicks. While I can follow up with neither 
(happily married) the younger ones would be much better for 
morale.
