I'd point from the other side though... if the car ran for 45 minutes
after several days of this problem, then the alternator is working.
Otherwise the car would have died. It's possible that everything
is working _except_ the part of the circuit that charges the
battery, but I doubt it. Get that battery tester and try it. It's
only a few $'s at the store. I'll give you 9 out of 10 odds that the
battery is dead.
