Subject: Manual Trasmission Problems

A couple of days ago, I had a strange experience with my 2002 Saab 9-3. After driving it for about a half hour in stop-and-go traffic, I stopped at a store for about a twenty minutes. As leaving, I released the clutch to back out of the parking space annd heard a faint rattling noise. It was then hard to get in first gear. I drove a few dozen yards and reached a stoplight. I then could not get it back into first gear, and with some difficulty got it into second gear. I drove a few hundred yards, then took it out of gear. At that point, I could only get it into fourth gear. I then pulled off the road, put it in reverse, and turned the car off. When I restarted it, I couldn't get it out of reverse. At that point, I gave up and called a tow truck. However, after the car set for about 20 minutes, I restarted it and everything seemed to work fine. I drove the car again yesterday for about 20 miles, and everything seemed fine, although I noted a slight burning smell (that may have been because I was hypersenstive to anything out of the ordinary). Any idea what happened? I plan to give the dealer a call tomorrow, but would like to know if anybody has experienced a similar problem or knows what might be wrong. Thanks, Anthony
